A Year Of E-Commerce Success
Waingroves, Amber Valley based Quo Vadis UK Limited have reasons to be cheerful having run a successful motorsport marketing business for many years their relationship with Morgan Cars indirectly caused them to branch out as an official Distributor, just over a year ago, for the clothing and workwear company, Dickies.
John Macknay, MD had this to say, "It is indeed a happy birthday with congratulations all round albeit as with any young company we still have work to do of course. As with other start up businesses that we typically meet via the Derbyshire Chamber, it is no easy ride these days. Special thanks must therefore go to valuable support we have received from the Chamber and Business Link. All the help, advice (and the warnings!) have all come true and we are starting to see the rewards of our hard work.
Quo Vadis fully embraced the 'First Steps' ecommerce training and went on to complete the 'Web Academy' courses. John added, "This training has been central to our on-line sales growth as www.DickiesStore.co.uk now makes up for a substantial part of our income. Without this, I am sure we would be selling in other ways but I am doubtful that we would have faired so well without this vital part of our marketing and sales activities.
The Dickies distributorship required expansion and the operations now employ 2 local people working primarily on customer service and order processing via the fully automated web based systems. Co-Director Cherry Macknay, commented, "Our core business at Quo Vadis has usually been sub-contracted so bringing staff on board has been challenging but particularly satisfying. Ramsey came to us last year on an agency temporary basis to just give holiday cover but is now full time payroll. Here we are, one year on, and Sarah in now going through the same cycle".
As to the future, Quo Vadis remains an active Derbyshire Chamber member and have looked for assistance with further development with staff training. John summed up, "We have to keep focused and we are consolidating our position in the Workwear sector albeit with plans to laterally expand what we offer our Customers. I think however it is our e-Commerce understanding that is particularly exciting. Broadwave, based in Heanor, as our Internet partner are really responsible for our prolific growth as in just 12 months we now top Google with most of the relevant terms relating to Dickies and Workwear. These skills can however be replicated in other areas of business and we have to consider the rapid developments in e-Commerce that has brought us such success to date".
